In this workshop, we will share our insights in how the arts can contribute to CBL in higher engineering education and guide workshop participants in translating these to their specific CBL contexts.
For three years, we have been developing and facilitating a CBL master course for engineering students on innovation through art and design, in which students work with artists and other stakeholders (e.g. museums, festivals, theatres) on open-ended challenges over a semester. During this course, students develop competences – such as radical openness, integrated knowing and explorative prototyping – they need for the increasingly difficult to predict challenges of the future.
