Like streams feeding the river: Re-owning the concept of collaboration in a learning community

Practice paper 03:45 PM - 04:05 PM (Europe/Amsterdam) 2025/04/08 13:45:00 UTC - 2025/04/08 14:05:00 UTC
The case study presents a regenerative exploration of the concept of collaboration in a learning community for international water technology. This community is embedded in a recent transformation from interdisciplinary project-based teams, into challenge-based learning communities. Mixed methods, including photo elicitation, generated meaningful insights about nature and purpose of collaboration as a sustainability competence and a key condition for effective learning communities hosted by higher education. We will discuss with participants the resulting narrative, revealing collaboration as a process in which the wisdom of the group is captured

EXPLORING THE CBL PROCESS WITHIN A EUROPEAN ALLIANCE

Practice paper 04:05 PM - 04:25 PM (Europe/Amsterdam) 2025/04/08 14:05:00 UTC - 2025/04/08 14:25:00 UTC
How can Challenge-Based Learning be effectively scaled across an international university alliance? This session presents insights from ECIU University, based on a mixed-methods study combining desk research and qualitative data from interviews across 12+ universities and over 200 learning opportunities. We will explore key enablers and challenges in implementing CBL at a transnational level, with a focus on ensuring coherence, scalability, and long-term sustainability. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of how to structure and refine CBL within the European higher education landscape
